I can feel you, all around me.
Once she calmed down a bit Everleigh could feel that Wil really was only curious and she turned to smile at him a bit, grateful that he was careful to not touch her skin. It made her smile a bit more to realize that he had figured that part out. So he knew other psychics. That was interesting. I never talk about it at all. You're the only one that knows as far as I can tell. Now that it was out there she didn't feel all that self conscious anymore. Of course it had a lot to do with the fact that it was Wil and she already knew from her vision earlier that he was used to some pretty strange stuff. Meeting a psychic was probably pretty mundane to him.
It's not easy. She admitted. Sometimes the visions are so intense that I get knocked off my feet. Makes it pretty hard to hide that something happened then so I just let people think I'm clumsy. Just like the man she had accidently brushed against at Pastor Jim's. It had only been for an instant that she had touched him but the vision was very detailed. It had turned the poor kid's legs to jelly and the guy just ended up staring at her as she collapsed to the ground in the hall. It had been part of the reason she had left. She didn't need anyone knowing too much about her, especially not in a place where she lived. I've never come across anyone else that can do what I can do so I've never had the chance to ask. Though she did think that WIl was right. Talking about it with someone who knows how it feels might be a good thing for the girl.
NOTES: sorry about the wait.

"When you get back, ask if somebody will introduce you to a woman named Aubrey. She's nice, kinda loud but a nice person. And she's got the gift. Different from yours, sounds like, but she's had to deal with it for a long time. And she's managed to live a good life. Got a home, kids, she's happy." Everleigh was a little young to be thinking about that kind thing, maybe, but he was trying to lay the groundwork for something here. Wil didn't know all of Everleigh's story, maybe on some level he didn't want to know it because he didn't want to end up feeling responsible for her. It was selfish, and on some level Wil was fine with that. He had his girl, his redemption and atonement and, more, his beautiful maddening daughter who he loved for her own sake, for being who she was. His family. But whatever his cultivated ignorance, he knew that Everleigh's life had been a hard one. And he knew that moving along the path she was on, if she hadn't already given up on the idea of ever having a 'normal' life, it wasn't far away. Wil wanted to counteract that if he could. Even if only in small ways. [style=padding: 0px 10px; font-size: smaller;] Location: on the road in South Dakota Wearing: A red shirt and black jeans with Chucks and with the tats on full display. I can feel you, all around me.
The last thing Everleigh wanted to do was talk about her past...again. She felt like that was all she did lately. She had to talk about everything when she met Margo and then when she was getting settled at Pastor Jim's. That was enough for her. Reliving her nightmare life over and over wasn't her idea of fun. She was only ten for heaven's sake!
Aubrey... She repeated the name to lock it in her memory. She really did want to get to know someone else with her "gift", as Wil called it. Everleigh wasn't so sure. Hopefully talking it out with someone else who lived with it would help change her perspective. Thanks Wil. She didn't just mean for the reference either. She was glad it was him that she had run into tonight, in spite of his reaction to her presence on Bobby's property.
Happy sounds nice. She mumbled to herself as she settled back into the seat. Her attention went back to the window beside her as they drove on. She had no idea what the future would bring but judging from all the weird coincidence in her life at the moment she was guessing normal was out the window from now on. She still couldn't believe that she kept getting thrust at one hunter after another. Was the universe trying to tell her something? She didn't normally believe in that crap but when it was shoved in your face like this...

Just pulled a bottle of water out of the cooler on the floor of the back seat and put the stereo on playing Blind Lemon Jefferson on low, that abraded voice rolling out over the shtriga like a balm. Christ he loved this music, he loved the memories it called up and the reminder he always found in it that no matter how fucked up the world seemed to be, there were plenty of people who'd had it worse, and still managed to find a way to sing about it. I can feel you, all around me.
The music that Wil had playing in the car lulled the child into a light sleep until she felt the car stop. It being so late at night there hadn't been much traffic and the car ride had seemed to take no time at all. There was something about seeing the church that made the girl smile in spite of the fact that she was returning as a runaway. This place had seemed like home more than anywhere else she had been since losing her father. Everleigh just wasn't good with getting comfortable and sticking with situations, giving things a chance. The idea scared her so she was a runner. Instead of getting complacent she will just leave.
Patty, the woman she had met when Margo had first taken her to the church, came out to greet them again now. Wil was right, she didn't seem angry, just very relieved to see the child again. Everleigh blushed at the attention. Before he left Everleigh turned and hugged Wil, thanking him again for everything. If anyone was going to find her, the girl was lucky it had been him.
She followed Patty into the building, listening tiredly as the woman lectured about the dangers of hitchhiking and how lucky Everleigh was to have been found by people who had helped her. This was something the child already knew. When she was finally back in her room she laid down tiredly and slept peacefully until almost noon the following day, exhausted by all the excitement from the night before.
