Chuck Shurley
{How else do you explain it? I write things and then they come to life. Yeah, no, I'm definitely a god. A cruel, cruel, capricious god. The things I put you through -- The physical beatings alone.}

Overall Personality:
Chuck is a very nervous, small figure upon meeting him. He prefers isolation to being in the hurried life of human beings, and has become particularly skilled at remaining invisible to the world. In his small home he wrote because of Nancy McKeon, who was a crush of his. He claims to have written her 40-50 letters, but she'd never written back. His home is also quite messy, which hints that Chuck is somewhat of a slob. He is often depicted at his computer writing in a bathrobe with bottles of beer surrounding him. Chuck is a borderline alcoholic due to the migraines he gains before having a vision.
Despite his flaws, Chuck is a friendly individual. He feels particularly close to the Winchester brothers due to his "creating them" from his novels. It can be said Chuck almost feels fatherly toward the two, and is always willing to help them however possible. This does not mean Chuck has much bravado. Chuck can easily be described as a coward and is easily spooked by just about anything, especially the supernatural. He has his moments of bravery, but otherwise is not one for conflict. He is seen to be easily defeated or pushed around by those stronger than him, especially the angels.
Chuck tends to speak with sarcasm. He, in general, has a rather panicked and pessimistic outlook on life. If he sees the world ending tomorrow, then he calls all over for women and insane things he cannot afford to simply enjoy them before his demise. There are certainly many things Chuck would like to have from life before his death. Though being around the Winchesters gives him a small feeling of hope from time to time. [/ul]

Overall History:
The beginning of Chuck Shurley is unknown. When he was revealed in the show he was first known under the pen name Carver Edlund who wrote a series called Supernatural, which starred Sam and Dean Winchester. These books were based on crazy dreams he had, which are later revealed to be prophetic visions that he receives from an Archangel.
When Sam and Dean first meet Chuck he quickly mistakes them from obsessed fans. He only comes to believe them when they mention their surname, Winchester, which he'd never written down anywhere. Shocked to realize that his books come to life he quickly begins to apologize to the Winchesters for what he'd put them through, and the bad writing they had to endure. He also begins to think he is some kind of capricious God. Chuck gives them information regarding Lilith and Sam as a way of helping, and thus the relationship between Chuck and the Winchesters began.
Sam later calls Chuck to ask if he knew about the demon blood, which Chuck replies that he does and that the story seems like it will rest all of his shoulders. Dean arrives to ask if he can stop the story from coming true. It was then that Castiel appeared and revealed Chuck as a Prophet of the Lord, which quite shocked the poor man. He was not seen again until Dean technically kidnapped him and took him to the motel which Sam and Lilith were residing. Within the presence of Lilith, Chuck was endangered. This caused the Archangel Raphael, who is tethered to Chuck, to appear. Lilith fled.
Chuck receives a vision soon after and, when trying to alert the Winchesters, is stopped by Zachariah. Chuck threatens to kill himself, and Zachariah says they'd simply revive him. Defeated, Chuck claims to not know what to do in which Zachariah replies "Do what you always do. Write".
We meet Chuck again when he has just finished a manuscript of "Supernatural-Lucifer Rising" and is ordering women over for the night. Castiel and Dean appear at the house, which Chuck objects to and claims it wasn't supposed to happen because he'd not seen it. He watches Dean read over the manuscript to find out where Sam is and as Chuck’s archangel is coming, Castiel sends Dean away.
Sam and Dean return to Chuck’s house and Chuck hits Sam in the head with a plunger, then amazed to see that Sam is alright, explaining that he saw Sam turn into a black eyed demon. He then explains to them that the Archangel destroyed Castiel. As Sam and Dean decide their next move, Chuck tells them that he can hear the angels talking and Zachariah and a few other angels appear. Dean sends them away using the seal.
Later, Chuck gives Becky Rosen, his number one fan, a message to give to Sam and Dean since he is being watched. He tells her about the Michael’s sword being lost on earth saying that its in a castle on top of a hill made up of 42 dogs.
Chuck is greeted by Sam and Dean at a Supernatural convention, put on in honor for his books. He learns that Becky Rosen, the only other person who knows Sam and Dean are real, stole his phone and texted them saying it was a life or death situation. He announces at the convention that he is going to start writing them again and Dean and Sam object to this. As the Winchesters hunt the ghosts in the hotel, Chuck distracts everyone in the main hall from the fact that there are really ghosts. The line of salt is broken and Chuck uses the mic stand to disperse the ghost that appears. At the end of the episode it appears that Becky has a thing for Chuck and he returns the feelings.
Chuck is later narrating the story of the Winchester’s Impala, the history and what it faced through it all, what it means to Sam and Dean. Chuck gets a call from Dean asking for the location of the final showdown and Chuck sees it and tells him that it takes place at noon at Stull Cemetery in Lawrence, Kansas. In the end, Chuck is seen in white and he finishes the story and vanishes, revealing that he is a vessel of God.
