Azrael had brought souls to heaven and that was normally the extent of her job, but something had intrigued her to crossing the thresholds into hell and finding a soul worth saving. Whether it was her longing for all bad to be made into good, or for Earth and humans to finally just be at peace, who could tell? Whatever the reason, Azrael had found the one soul that seemed to beg and plead for repentance. Ruby... she had been a part of the Winchester brothers' lives and she had royally screwed up, she was the reason Lucifer was out of his cage from day one and the reason Sam had to throw him back into the cage. Had Azrael ever come across the famous Winchesters? No, but she was about to get the pleasure.
Her eyes scanned the half empty parking lot briefly as she let them fall to the now human beside her, having turned a demonic soul human was never an easy job... but Azrael was strong enough to swing it. She cleared her throat as she began walking toward the room she knew Samuel Winchester would be behind. She gestured for Ruby to follow her and the thoughts in her head were strictly those of wondering how she would convince Sam to help Ruby repent her sins after all she had put Sam through.
Reaching the doorstep of the motel room Azrael took in a deep unneccessary breath before bringing her fist to the door and knocking three times. She looked straight ahead and folded her hands infront of herself as she rocked back and forth like a child on her heels and awaited him to open the door, she could hear rummagging and sounds on the other side of the door and she was preparing herself for a discussion she knew would be a rough one. | [atrb=valign, top][atrb=style, height: 430px; padding: 40px 185px 160px 30px; color: #ccc4c2;] Location: Sammy's Motel doorstep Music: Last Night By Skillet Outfit: Skinny jeans, black silk tank top, Black strap up heels, leather curve fitted jacket Notes: HI SAMMY!!! As a demon she naturally ran a hotter temperature and now as a human again everything felt so cold. There was also this weird new way that her senses had of filtering information to her. Before things were sharper to her demon senses but also not as bright, not as alive, as if things had a sheen of darkness over them at the same time, a strange contradiction. There were other new strange sensations; the biggest one was this deep sense of solitude within her. Her demonic side was gone and with it that constant barrage of suggestions from that side as well, like it was separate from her but part of her all at once. It was something hard to explain if you hadn’t experienced being a demon, well a demon as unique as Ruby was, one who still had some of her humanity left after her black eyes were installed. For centuries it made her a better killer, a better twister of souls, someone who could take a good man and make them hell-bound in only a few twists and turns, it was her gift, then she met Sam. Over six hundred years and only one person was able to reach in and take that humanity that was left inside of her and strengthen it, make it stronger than the demon, make her believe the lies she told. In the end the truth was she was his and she gladly died in his arms, tossed aside like trash afterwards, simply because she understood that she had betrayed him (no matter her reasons) and wanted him to have the revenge he deserved for it. Now, this fucked up fairy tale seemed to be on part two…or was it three, well who really cared? Angels and their weird sense of justice, not that she was complaining being pulled from the racks, she just wished that she knew what Sam’s reaction would be to her before she knocked on that door. Honestly had she the choice she’d follow him a few days, get a new body, get a feel for him, then try to worm her way back into his life, but she wasn’t a demon anymore and none of that was possible. Her hands shook as she moved to the door, everything in her telling her to run, that danger lay behind that door. Then came the flash of Dean standing before her and that searing heat of the demon killing blade being plunged into her abdomen. She barely held back the need to retch, a new fear surfacing, that the elder Winchester was beyond that door waiting for her. She looked over to the Angel a moment, considering asking her if maybe they could skip this whole “redemption” thing and just take the first elevator downstairs again simply because the last thing she wanted was Dean Winchester getting his rocks off sending her there again. She also feared that Sam wouldn’t stop him and that he’d help kill her, one human death enough to last her many, many, many lifetimes. The moment passed though and she turned back to the door, swallowing down her fear and raising her chin, if death were waiting for her on the other end side of the door she’d face it with her head held high, like the strong woman she was. It didn’t matter how broken she felt inside or how much she wanted to just curl up into Sam’s arms and tell him how scared she was, to hell with that, she was stronger than that and would prove it not only to the Angel who was standing behind her with the sick sense of humor but to anyone who was on the other side of the door. Her knuckles met with the wood of the door then she took a step back from it and waited to see what would be waiting for her on the other side. | [atrb=style, padding: 0px 10px 50px 10px; color: #a17361; text-shadow: 1px 1px 1px #000;][atrb=valign,top] Sam lounged on the motel bed, flipping through channels. It had been...not even a week since the whole croatoan incident. And he was still trying to recover. However, as Dean was not dead, just absent, he was not spiraling down into the bottom of a bottle. Nor had he gone suicidal. No, he was trying to recuperate from his reunion with his brother and the incident with the mental wall. He'd decided it was best for his safety that of Dean's current happiness if he traveled with the Byrons' caravan for a while. Otherwise, he might just hunt down that lying bitch and cut her throat.
So there he was, still fully clothed, on a Saturday night. He should be hustling pool or doing something else productive. But his laptop lay on the small table, untouched as yet. He hadn't yet felt the fervor of a hunt. Not since Nichole had walked into his life and destroyed it. Okay, so he was moping. Sam Winchester was pouting and he knew he was being childish, but part of him simply didn't care. After all the shit destiny had put him through, he honestly didn't find it terribly fair to fork family drama on him. Not after all the work he'd put into redeeming himself in his brother's eyes. They had clicked, been in tune for those last moments before he'd jumped. He had seen the trust, the desperation in his brother's eyes. And now....Dean was a stranger.
He'd left the tv on a rerun of Sesame Street while he mulled over recent events. Until a knock on the door shook him out of his stupor. He got up, tossed the remote on the bed and made his way to the door. Usually he'd have checked everything, but he figured it was probably Norah or Alec or, hell, even Bishop. What he wasn't expecting? Ruby. And another stranger.
He stared, openly stared, for a full minute. And then he shut the door. Sam stared at the door for another minute, trying to put two and two together. Finally he opened the door and said the first thing that came to mind. "What the hell, Ruby? Dean killed you." He was too tired, mentally and emotionally, to rant at her. In fact, a part of him wanted to go back to the days when he'd believed her to be on his side. God, but he needed someone on his side. Even she would do. Although her betrayal stung almost as much as Dean's more recent one had.
Sam frowned at the other girl, and then he noted how....serious she looked. "An angel? You're here with an angel? Has the world gone completely crazy? First, I have a new sibling. And now there's a demon standing on my doorstep with an angel. Are you all trying to drive me mad? Is that your new personal mission, Ruby? 'Cause I think it'll be fairy easy. I'm about this close to snapping." He sounded completely conversational, even as he demonstarted using his forefinger and thumb to show just how close he was to losing what was left of himself.

She folded her arms over her chest and tapped her foot against the pavement. When he opened the door again she gave him an incredulous look as her emerald eyes scanned over the younger Winchester brother. She scowled slightly at the slight disrespect streaming from his mouth. "God" forbid he have problems in his life and she not have the best of timings! She opened her mouth and raised her hand to make sure he was silent as she spoke. "Excuse you Mr. Winchester but I figured you to be a bit more appreciative of my dropping off this now human girl.... I am so sorry its such an inconvenience on your present life situation but I figured helping someone you once cared about repent their sins may be a slight priority somewhere in your life..." her voice held slight irritation with a mixture of sarcasm. She stepped passed Ruby and got right in Sam's face. Her eyes scanned his facial features closely as she now pushed a hand through her hair and placed her other hand on her vessel's hip.
"I mean if I were cruel, and if my job weren't to save souls and guide them to salvation and my father as the Archangel of Death, then I'd just drag her back to hell and stick her back on that rack....but as I recall you know what hell is like don't you Samuel?" She retracted her face from being so close from his but she slowly pushed her way passed him and circled him for a moment, sizing him up as she spoke again in a slight menacing tone. "Don't you recall? The screams... the pain... the cries? Would you want to put your precious Ruby back there? Would you wish that upon anyone? Especially a soul that is crying out for repentance?" she stood behind him now, in the room. Her arms now folded back over her chest and her eyes gazing upon his back as if appauld by his selfishness at the moment.
"From the things I've heard of you Sam Winchester, I expected so much better of you...." she said as she clicked her tongue against the roof of her mouth in a scolding gesture as she shook her head. Her eyes softened now and she hung her head,"I would hope you could reconsider my job I am giving to you, help save her Sam..." she said, her voice now soft and almost sympathetic.

Yes, hell sucks, no she’d rather not be back there if at all possible but there were some lines she was unwilling to cross and it seemed that within moments this Angel just casually strolled across all of them. The truth was that she’d rather face hell again than to allow Sam to feel any pain at all and she did deserve his contempt, in the end she screwed him without an explanation. Of course she was going to try to give one now, pitiful as it may seem, but there was a time and place for all that, or at least tact to be used…tact not a sledgehammer. She knew Sam, knew how best to slowly break things to him, carefully put one foot in front of the other and draw him to her, this would only push him away. He had a rebellious streak a mile wide and the moment you turned something into anything near a command or used his history against him that would be when he shut you out, especially when it came to Angels, yea tact! She turned back to Sam, letting him see the look of shock on her face, hoping he’d register that she wasn’t a party to the bitter and cruel words from the Arch. She took a step towards him, reaching out a hand to almost touch him but pulling back, knowing better than to even try that right now. “Sam, you don’t have to do any of that, I don’t expect you to. I just wanted….needed…I’d hoped that you would just listen to me for a little bit, hear what really happened and give me a chance to apologize, that’s it, no strings.” Really what she wanted to say was that she loved him still, would go through all that he had in the years in his place, worse in fact, just to save him the pain of it all. She’d also gladly accept him shoving her away now, hell she’d accept him killing her now if she could just get one more moment near him. Already being in his presence she could feel that strength that she had gotten from him filling her and giving her the resolve to turn to the Arch without fear for herself. Two rules she had lived with in her heart, the first and foremost was no one screws with Sam Winchester. “No one, not Lucifer, not Michael, not even God speaks to him that way, understand? If the price for bringing me up from hell is that you force him to do anything he isn’t willing to then you know what I’ll take the pain a thousand fold to spare him a moment of discomfort. Fucking Angels and their high and mighty attitudes, as if you lot know better than anyone else in the whole world. Most of you don’t really understand love, hate, attachment, or anything else in between. Don’t you dare use his experiences in the pit against him like that. I didn’t see you or any of your fine feathered siblings stopping to help him so you know what, get off your high horse now.” Okay, yes, looks like she still had a temper and was prone to a certain loss of sense of self preservation when it came to Sam. She moved into the room, uninvited, but making sure she put herself between Sam and Azrael, more to protect Sam from the Arch than the other way around. Even without the demon powers it seemed she had it in her to want to take any danger meant for him and transfer it onto her, protecting him her first priority. Hell it could be her words were meant to pull the Angel’s focus and ire off of Sam and onto her even. Finally after a few moments her eyes lowered, pressing back the fear she held in the next words she spoke. “If he doesn’t want to be around me then I won’t force him to, just take me back and let them do what they were doing to me.” Her voice almost cracking with fear from the idea but she’d go if Sam didn’t want her around him, if the price for her life was to much for him to agree to. | [atrb=style, padding: 0px 10px 50px 10px; color: #a17361; text-shadow: 1px 1px 1px #000;][atrb=valign,top] The angel gaze hardened, the words she spoke ripped at his already weakened sense of self. If he hadn't already been crippled, she would have done it in one fine stroke. Talking about Hell. Her words made him anxious, made him push at that Wall, desperate to understand what it was she was talking about. He wavered, mentally, trying to figure out where he was going to go, whether he should just tumble into darkness and never come back. Sam wondered if this "archanel of death" would forcibly pull him back from a self-imposed coma just to yell at him some more.
That's when Ruby spoke up. First, promising he didn't have to do anything that the angel had dictated, he turned to look at her with glassy eyes. Torn between anger and pain, his soul destroyed by the hidden memories of Hell clawing at his moral compass. Her next words shocked him back into the present. He stopped pushing at the mental wall and simply stared at her. Recognition flared within him. Here was an ally. Someone he could stand back to back with. Alright, so maybe he wouldn't turn his back on her, maybe he wasn't ready to trust her entirely. She was still-
Ruby had stepped in front of him. Defended him from an Archangel, of all people. Sam was stunned. He watched her temper soar and then she deflated slowly. Gathering himself, he laid a hand on her shoulder. "You can stay, Ruby." Some of the strength that had left him with the severing of his link to Dean returned now. He met the angel's gaze squarely. "She can stay, but you can't. I don't like you. Too pushy. Is it selfish of me to be devastated and broken by recent events? I woke up about three weeks ago to find that more than a year had passed since my last coherent memories. Those memories where of jumping into the Pit with Lucifer locked away in my head. And now I've had a fake sister thrust upon me. I'm tired, angel. I'll keep Ruby, I'll even take responsibility for her. But you need to leave. Now."
Sam new he was probably breaking all ties with his brother by taking Ruby in. He knew he probably shouldn't even be taking the ex-demon back into his life. He should reject her, send her back to Hell, where she probably deserved to be. Yet, he couldn't just turn away someone who looked as down as she did. So, he'd let her in. But if she burned him this time, he'd kill her...At least, he thought he would.
"I'm not at my best right now, Ruby. I'm not even sure why I'm accepting you. If I regain my sensibilities, I hope you're prepared. I may just be the death of you." He giggled at that, and he was obviously reaching his breaking point. "Death...Kind of funny, isn't it? All of us...we all revolve around death and they keep breaking us down and then pulling us back out. And then they switch the people we know with-with doppelgangers. Or something. The whole planet's gone crazy and I don't even know who I am anymore."

No angel, no being had told her that he had yet to understand what had happened after he fell into the cage, he still had his wall up inside of him blocking those things, and now after stopping for a moment she could sense it. She slowly walked around Ruby and looked at Sam but kept a good distance still.
"I apologize Sam... I did not realize that you have such difficulties at the moment, I am not fully kept within the loop of my siblings at this time and I apologize for not seeing things fully at first before being so harsh with you.... I am normally not so harsh I am actually quite nice but it is my fault that I had assumed you to be in such a position of understanding that you are not on quite yet.... I will understand if you still wish me to leave but I would like to stay and have a few words with you calmly first if that is alright?" she spoke softly, her voice her usual sweet tone as she put her hands in the pockets of her skinny jeans now and looked down, ashamed for having said the things she had said to him.
Her hair cascaded into her face and she took in a deep unnecessary breath before looking through her hair to Ruby,"I apologize for being harsh with him Ruby, your defense is great and appreciated he needs people on his side, and you are a good person to have as an ally, do accept my apology please as I mean no harm to him nor do I mean any harm to you, and I would not drag you back to such a horrible place, you deserve a fair chance to repent and prove yourself," she said as she nodded in agreement to her own words.
She looked up and looked between the two, a small smile creasing her lips as she awaited a word of acceptance or words telling her to leave again, either way it went she would abide in the simple fact she did not wish to hurt either one of their feelings it was not like Azrael to wish hurt upon anyone.

She now knew something was terribly wrong, in all the time she knew Sam she had never known him to not have a million questions about something new, like a new Angel or a newly souled demon. Yes him choosing, of all things, Sesame Street, over knowledge had Ruby deeply troubled. Also the fact that she only saw his bags, his clothing in the room had her worried…what had happened to Dean? Of course there would be time for that and she’d find it, for the now she was content to move onto the bed with him, moving her frame into his lap to offer him the comfort of her body against his. Her eyes moved from Sam over to Azrael, doing as she was asked, listening to the Angel for him and making the appropriate mental notes for Sam, nodding to her words. She didn’t have any immediate plans to slip up or do anything but take care of Sam honestly. At that moment thinking past the moment she was in was proving difficult, worry for the man she loved clouding her mind enough that she couldn’t sort through to anything past this night. “I’ll be careful and take care of him, we’ll see you soon enough.” Watching the Angel leave, holding her composure till then, but as soon as the door was closed she turned and looked up at Sam, her eyes filling with worry. She reached up her free hand to cup his cheek a moment then trailed it up to his hair, threading it between her fingers gently, an act of affection to try to help relax him. “It’s okay Sam, I’m here now, I’ll take care of you no matter what.” Her promise to him, honest and true, the tone tinged with the small amount of panic she had rising up in her. Had hell done this to him or was there something new going on she didn’t know? Well anything he asked of her was going to be granted, she wouldn’t let him down now. Glancing down at Ruby, he inclined his head towards the other girl. “Would you mind giving me footnotes? I just...I can’t. I want to watch my Sesame Street.” He knew he probably sounded dead, or childish, but he really couldn’t get himself to care. He was drifting in a numb wasteland, trying to figure out where he should go. He needed to figure out how to get to a point of normalcy and, right now, he felt lost. Sam didn’t let go of Ruby’s hand, even when he moved to sit on the bed again, he just pulled her with him. He needed the strength her touch was giving him.
Sam couldn’t explain why it was Ruby would was making him feel semi-normal. A part of him was disgusted, railed at him that he should kill her and get her out of his life. But the rest of him ignored that part, more willing to cling to her in desperate fear than to attempt to murder her. Besides, she was re-ensouled, she couldn’t be evil-inclined, could she? But then, as a human, she was granted with choices. He was too tired to be thinking about this. Debating the morality of depending on Ruby, the same woman who had betrayed him not all that long ago, was too painful for his brain.

She nodded at his comment and watched him for a moment as he took his seat with Ruby.
"Simplest form I can manage right now is just take care of each other, try to make sure she doesn't slip into anything she shouldn't be doing, but at the same time take care of yourself too Sam... I'm only a call away, I'll hear it if you need me and I will be checking in with you every few days or so," she said and with that she closed her eyes and was no longer in the room. She stood in the parking lot of the Motel for a moment gazing toward the window, she wondered how such love could exist between to people, part of her longed for that same situation....but she knew it was a very low possibility unless she risked everything else she had for it. She turned and began to walk up the road, she'd be back to check on it all in a few days, for now they needed to relax.

A shudder ran through him and all he could think of was Nichole, demanding that she accept him. Of Dean going to the poison ripping their family apart. He wanted to rage and hurt and destroy, but he had no energy left. So, he sat and watched Sesame Street while a long-dead demon tried to get him to come out of his stupor. He was really going crazy, wasn't he? Sam didn't understand why Dean had chosen that girl over famly. Over all that they had been through together. Then again, he understood completely, she was a parasite and had poisoned his brother, taken him from him.
"Take care of me? The last time you said something like that, you destroyed me. They tell me I went to Hell. I don't remember it. I remember falling in. And then I remember waking up with a beautiful gir, an angel of course, waiting for me. But there's a huge puzzle piece missing it. I've been told there's a wall that protecting my mind, that I should scratch at that wall. Do you know how hard that is? So, I sit and watch Sesame Street, and that is the only real thing seemingly left to me." With a sigh, he shifted on the bed, feeling restless and listless at the same time.

She let him shift, move under her while she kept her fingers threading through his hair, remembering how so many years ago this was a touch he’d relax under, something he’d either use as he just did, to unburden himself to her, or to push her onto the bed and take her, either way she hoped to give him some solace with her actions. “I want to offer you an explanation, apologies, promises, but are you ready to hear any of them tonight? Yes, you were in hell, I know it all to well and it’s a blessing you don’t remember it. I’m here though, I’m real, and now human it seems.” Of course after all the time she spent as a demon there were some things she simply could not turn off that easily. Things she couldn’t just stop. The biggest one now was that Azrael brought her out of hell, which meant that the Angel had owned her, as a demon is owned (well at least as she always was) and now she’d been given to Sam, his property to do with as he saw fit. So she had a job again, to try to piece back the man she love, this remarkable man who despite everything always seemed to see the good in everyone. He world was going to revolve around him again it seemed. “We can sit here if you want, we can talk if you want, anything at all Sammy.” LOCATION: Sam’s hotel MUSIC: Forgiven by Within Tempation OUTFIT: I need better clothes NOTES: Oh look…Grover is near…then far….then near….then far

| [atrb=style, padding: 0px 10px 50px 10px; color: #a17361; text-shadow: 1px 1px 1px #000;][atrb=valign,top] Sam stared at Ruby for a long moment, emotions warring on his face for dominance. Anger and some kind of deflated hope raged against each other until a rather mixed up version of hope managed to overcome the other emotion. Yes, he needed Ruby again. Yet, as she'd said herself, she was human. If she did him wrong, she was now far more delicate than he was. He knew he wasn't ready to hear anything. Not really. He wanted her to explain why she'd done what she'd done, he wanted her to beg for his forgiveness. He struggled with all that had happened between them, even now.
Sesame Street ended and he stared past the girl in his arms at the television. God, but all he wanted was to sleep. He wanted to sleep until everything was right again. Maybe when he woke up the parasite would be gone, and Dean would be here. His arms tightened around Ruby and he rolled onto his side, laying her on the bed only to curl around her. It was unfair of him to use her like a living teddy bear, to create comfort from the solidness of her body. Yet, he needed it. Sam felt like he was walking on the edge of a knife and he didn't know which way he would fall.
His own mind was a confusing jumble. A mixture of leftover hatred for Ruby and a need for her presence. Sam himself didn't even know what he wanted. No, correction. Sam wanted Dean. Sam needed Dean. But Dean had left him, had chosen a stranger. The younger Winchester was just beginning to really try to deal with that and it was destroying him. "I can't...I can't get into this tonight. I'm so tired. Just...Just stay."

It was truly her confirmation that she was no longer in hell, hell didn’t feel warm like he did, it was hot and cold, burning and ripping, his cries of pain and pleading for mercy. No in this almost peaceful hotel room was none of that and he was there whole, damaged but whole. She had so many damned questions for him but she feared asking them, feared that he would push her away from him and she just couldn’t handle that right now, not after the affection he had already shown her. She just focused then on the sound of his heartbeat, his breathing, his arms around her. She wanted so badly to move up and place a gentle kiss on his lips, start where they had last left off, the last time they lay in a bed together. Hesitant though, she decided he would be the one now to make all the moves, he had the power in this new relationship. She’d just do what she needed to in order to serve him best, try to be what he needed, if tonight it was a human teddy bear than so be it, she’d take solace in his arms as well. “I’ll never leave Sam.” The meaning behind those words clear as day, she was saying how much she still loved him. His Ruby. LOCATION: Sam’s hotel MUSIC: Forgiven by Within Tempation OUTFIT: I need better clothes NOTES: back to don't kill me?
