Castiel sat on a low headstone, his arms wrapped across his stomach as he bent forward over them, trying and failing to retake control of his vessel. Head down, shoulders hunched inside his trench coat, he looked almost exactly like an addict or a drunk trying to ride out the DTs. In fact, he was praying. I'm trying, Father. I'm trying to do what You would want of me. He murmured in hoarse Enochian, staring down at the toes of Jimmy's shoes and trying to force the chill out of his fingertips and feet. I am weak but I am trying to be strong for You. I believe this is what You want of me. I have faith. I have faith. He shuddered, battling back the rapid degeneration that had spread to his vessel, trying to hold himself together long enough to finish the task ahead of him. Puriel couldn't even remember the last time she'd left her post at Heaven's gates, and come down to Earth, wallowing among the unholy filth that plagued this dimension. Knowing that demons were likely lurking around every corner, she nearly shuddered at the disgust she felt in the pit of her stomach. Actually, having a stomach in general, was odd. Definitely something she'd have to get used to.
It'd been ages since she'd felt hunger, and the constant, unsettling rumble was an un-welcomed feeling. She rolled her shoulders a bit, as if she was struggling to find comfort in her vessel the way the average person might try to adjust to the foreign fabric of a new blouse.
She'd entered the body of Mckenna Sharp, just hours earlier. The young woman had unwavering faith, though she'd been in tears minutes before Puriel had taken her corporal form. She'd chalked it up to nerves, not that Puriel had cared either way.
Deep in thought, she sensed a brother or sister Angel had teleported nearby, and decided to follow the trail. That's what she'd come here to do, right? Rally her siblings and reel in those who'd lost their way. Her trip ended in Woodlawn, where she saw what she assumed was a vessel, huddled on a grave marker. She recognized the man as Castiel's host and abruptly walked over.
"Jesus Castiel." She gasped as she got close enough to see the full extent of his decrepit state, "you look like.. Well I'm sure you know what you look like."

He could feel the open wounds on his face starting to close, tried to concentrate on that. "It's been a rough few weeks." His speech was getting more and more human the longer he spent down here. Which, speaking of. "What brings you down to grub around in the mud, sister?" Puriel had never been a big fan of Earth, not that he knew anyway. The body is whole. The vessel is whole. I am whole. Though the problem was that he didn't feel whole, hadn't for a very long time. How long had it been since he was able to spend more than a few hours in Heaven? A year? Two? Raphael and his supporters couldn't cut Castiel off from his Grace, but they could see to it that Heaven was too dangerous for him to be able to spend any time there, and being trapped on earth for so long had worn the ophanim thin. He was starting to feel like a sheet run too often through the wash, gone transparent in places and just waiting for any excuse to rip wide open and go worthless. When you where in the line of work that Dean was in it was very easy to lose faith, when you had creatures that attacked children and innocents, people that had done no wrong in their lives, before Cas and the angels came along Dean had believed that there was no higher power, that there was nothing protecting the human race and it sucked but he could accept it. However then it turned out oh there where angels but the majority wanted an apocalypse not to protect the race their father had created. However Cas, the guy that he was didn’t seem to want to go against his father and he had done countless things to help him and Sam, hell he had fought his own family for the Winchesters to try and prevent the Winchesters fighting each other. He had just gotten out of the impala having gone for Groceries when he saw a flash of trench coat, to most it wouldn’t mean anything but to Dean it did. Cas. At the fact that he was gone just as fast Dean had to admit that he got the feeling it was a sign for Dean to follow him, taking the groceries inside he grabbed a rifle and was back in the impala, not that he was going to shoot Cas but if he was going to help Cas he wasn’t going empty handed and he was going to make sure that the angel had backup. Even going as far as to have gone to the trunk of the impala to check that he had all of the ingredients for a fight with anything, holy water, holy fire and Ruby’s knife that he had taken by killing her, needless to say Dean was armed to the teeth. Dean took off driving around Nevada, just wanting to find Cas, when he couldn’t he figured he could try the old fail safe. Cas’s cell. When the phone rang through there was a click indicating it had been picked up so Dean spoke. “Hey I just saw you by the hotel.” He said “are you ok or do you need help I just need pointing to where you are because I am driving around but I can’t find you.” Location: Impala Music:Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi Outfit:in template Notes:

She'd never had a taste for human trinkets. Or, really, human anything. When he put the phone to his ear and heard Dean's voice Castiel's eyes burned with ho wmuch he suddenly wished that it was a year ago and they were fighting together against a well-defined enemy, that it was him and Dean and Sam and Bobby trying to stop the apocalypse and believing in one another instead of being scattered to the winds, turned half-away from one another all the time because nobody could let go of the wrongs done them. "I'm at Woodlawn Cemetery." His voice was harsh even by his standards, Castiel actually was on the ragged edge of tears. "Northwest corner. Dean, I--" he broke off, and finished up lamely with, "I'd forgotten I had this phone." Why had he even said that? Why had that come out of his mouth instead of 'I'm coming apart at the seams and I'm not sure I want you to see this' or 'I'm fine, nothing to worry about' or even 'please come, I need you'? He honestly did not know. [style=padding: 0px 10px; font-size: smaller;] Location: Woodlawn Cemetery, Las Vegas NV Music: Were You There? - Johnny Cash Notes: Broken little angel. [/style] |

Dean had to admit that the fear and almost worry in Cas’s voice was something that worried Dean about Cas if he was being honest. Simply because of the fact that Cas never seemed to show a lot of real emotion if he was being honest so the fact that he was doing so now worried him, the fact that he had seemed different was worrying to Dean because of the fact that he had known Cas a while yet he had not known him like this if he was being worried by anything then it would have to be something that was pretty bad given the fact that he never seemed to show that emotion before and Dean had to admit that it worried him more than anything.
Turning the phone off he drove to the location of where Cas had told him about, the fact that he had been able to find pretty easy after all given the fact that the whole city was on road signs which was pretty impressive if Dean was being honest almost like he was being guided by something but that was not the point the point was more the fact that Cas needed his help if he was being honest. Pulling into the graveyard Dean got out of the impala, he didn’t know what Cas needed but he was willing to help him anyway that he could walking over to him he couldn’t help but notice the fact that his friend looked different, he looked beaten and battered like he had his ass kicked yet Dean didn’t know what had done it to him.
“Well you look like crap,” Dean said plainly kneeling in front of him almost. “what happened to you?”

And really, no one needed to see that. "I'm dying." He sounded very matter of fact about it. The way that he was meant to sound--angels ought to be willing and even happy to sacrifice themselves--rather than the way he actually felt. "I've been cut off from Heaven for too long. Raphael's followers chase me out in a matter of moments every time I try, and without access to the energies of Heaven this planet, this place is turning toxic to me." He stared out over the gravestones, the was the first time Castiel had acknoledged or even noticed that his choice of location for this little breakdown was notably morbid. "I thought I would have longer." His voice was getting raspier, the strain of keeping it calm was showing. "I didn't consider that I've been straining myself, pushing past what an ophanim ought to do. Acting as a conduit for greater powers, resurrecting the dead. I've burned up too much of myself. I...didn't plan well." He'd done what was needed, he didn't regret that part. But he wasn't looking forward to dying, either. Dean had to admit that he had not seen Cas look as bad as he did, the guy looked like shit and there was nothing that he could do to say about that because he did not have a handle on the power of angels and didn’t know what to do about it, Dean had never said that he would be able to help Cas yet he did want to not help Cas and he knew what he was going to try and do anything for him to be able to help Cas because of the fact that Cas had done everything for him and Sam and had been willing to do it without a complaint and was actually cut off from heaven for them because of the fact that he had rebelled against heaven for against the apocalypse and they had actually been able to stop the apocalypse with the help of Cas, if it had not been for Cas then they would been dead and it was something that Dean would not forget and would do something to try and work out a way for him to save Cas.
“Maybe you need to stop worrying about everyone else and take time for yourself, I did tell you that you would get flabby when you just popped everywhere rather than walking.” He teased trying to make fun of the situation if he was being honest. “Is there anything that I can do to help?”
