“Okay. Maybe you think I’m some heartless mercenary whore, right... But I cry every time I watch that bit at the end of Terminator 2 with the lava and the thumb up and the… y’know? I’m just playing the game the way it’s supposed to be played. No good, no evil, just different points of view and different hands dealt. If you’d stop fighting the house rules, play your cards right, there’s good money to be made! Aren’t you tired of a thankless job? If you’d wake up and smell the moolah, you guys’d see where the future’s at… ‘Course that’s assumin’ the God Squad doesn’t cut the game short with their bullshit first. But what's a simple turnskin to do about that? ”
Eddie comes from the same school of ‘Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie’ as Bela Talbot, but with more emphasis on the physical feats she’s capable of. So less forged charms or shoddy séances; more thievery, bodygaurding and hunting for monsters. Eddie only goes hunting when there’s something in it for her though - blood, venom, ivory, pelts or a bounty. And even then, if it’s something she can get without killing then she will. She hardly ever exorcizes ghosts or demons because there’s rarely anything of monetary value left to show for it. She’s not particularly fond of Hunters and she’s outright scared of Angels, but given just cause she’ll try to take each being as she finds them. Thief, escort, mercenary, guard, smuggler, alibi, procuress or fixer – you want it, Eddie’s got it (or at least knows how to get it). But Hell hath no fury like a shapeshifter with an unpaid invoice!
I had a few ideas for thread starters to see if anyone had a take on these or anything else:
Angels/Demon/Creatures - Eddie steals a book/charm/artifact somehow mystically tied to a supernatural character and accidentally summons them directly to her. Both parties are rather shocked by this.
Angels/Demons/Hunters – Anyone who had a bone to grind with Crowley might ambush Eddie in the belief that she was still working for him. In actual fact, nothing would please the shapeshifter more than to stab ‘Lucky the Leprechaun’ repeatedly with a rune knife.
Hunters/Demons – Eddie isn’t a hired killer but when someone puts a dead-or-alive price on the head of a character who’s been/will be a problem for certain interested parties, Eddie has no problem with trying to hand them over kicking and screaming. A good story might change her mind though. Or she could underestimate the target and end up earning herself a good kicking for her troubles.
Civilians/Hunters/Demons/Creatures - Eddie is critically injured in a deal gone sour. Luckily she has a range of contacts established through various guises and decides to call in a favour owed her but things get interesting when she can’t quite keep up the act while getting first aid. In addition/Instead, she might be happy to help anyone who comes hunting the party responsible for her injury
Hunters - Eddie has a commission to capture a certain beastie alive but runs into a hunter who has come to put the beastie down. Eddie would welcome a team-up, right until the time comes to deliver the deathblow, at which point she’ll try to suckerpunch the hunter or see if they’ll help with the capture for a cut of the profit.
Hunters/Demons/Creatures – Stuck in a jail cell, in prison, in a devils trap or some other tight spot? Got contacts? If you can get word out to Eddie (phone call, text message, carrier pigeon, freaky dream, whatever) she’ll happily break you out for a reasonable fee. No refunds if you get shot, mind.
Anyone - Eddie tries mingling at a bar she’s heard gets a lot of Hunter traffic in a search of info on an up-coming job and ends up buying a drink for another character.
Anyone – Eddie interrupts an encounter that she mistakes for a regular mugging/break-and-enter before realising she’s been caught up in a supernatural conflict that another character was already involved in. She can either help or just get in the way. Or, vice versa she’s the one collecting an old debt and someone else stumbles across Eddie’s dodgy dealings.
Anyone - Eddie gets recommended to someone as a creature capable of reuniting a client with a long lost loved one without their explaining that Eddie just takes on their forms for a session of wish fulfillment.
