She had just teleported him back from Africa, where she'd showed off some of her beloved lions. She hadn't let them eat him, but she had gotten him entangled in a fight to the death with a shifter. Now that they were safely returned, she focused on him and made sure none of the blood on him belonged to him. Once she was completely certan he was safe and unhurt, she rushed to the bathroom, turning on the hot water. "Alec, I want you to take a long shower. Get all the dirt off. I would clean you myself, but I fully believe in the power of hot water." She herself had shaken off the blood and dirt that had clung to her small frame already. In the morning, she'd make a run to Niagra Falls and play in the water. the feel of water running along her body was like a cleansing for her. As soon as she had sealed the Byron into the bathroom, the angel started tidying up the room. Carefully, and with a respect most might not expect from her, she moved Alec's intruments to safer resting places. Seeming to simply wipe the blood and dirt off of the bedding, Ariel made the big bed. She had just finished turning down the comforter when she heard the door open behind her. The angel whirled only to come face to face with another Alec. "Luke!" They might be all Adult Musicianny now, but Luke and his twin had shared a bedroom their entire lives until they went on tour, and in the early days before the shows started selling better they'd shared motel rooms more often than not. So no, he didn't even think about it before using the spare key to let himself into Alec's suite in search of the MIDI keyboard. He had some transcription he wanted to do before the next round of headaches kicked in and he couldn't find the good one. On seeing the girl standing next to the bed, his first reaction was to freeze and try to remember whether the Do Not Disturb had been on the door. It hadn't and he relaxed fractionally but then ended up squinting slightly and turning his face away. "You must be Ariel." He didn't sound incredibly pleased. "Christ you're bright. You think you could tone down the glow some, sweetheart?" He didn't know how else to describe it, but she had a glow around her, searing purple-white and way brighter than the soft blueish glow around Castiel or the orange-red limn that surrounded Jophiel, the only other angel he'd ever met. "I suppose you two are just back from another exciting adventure in the improbable and grandiose?" That sour note was clear in his voice, he didn't have any reason to try. What happens if you're two-faced to an archangel? Luke didn't know, but he suspected the answer was 'nothing good'. So he stuck with unflattering but honest. "And he'll be keyed up and exhausted and distracted on stage tonight, and tomorrow will sleep until two in the afternoon." He'd have to warn Rah, they had the Rolling Stone party tomorrow night so they'd need to chase people away from Alec's door until his twin had gotten his fill of sleep. "Fantastic. I figured you would never bother meeting the rest of us." Even then, there was some small amount of confusion. She could see something special about him, but she couldn't identify it. It was obvious he was going to be important. Of course, he was already important, simply because he mattered to Alec. "Tone down the glow. Hm...I could try." She focused a moment, gaze settled fully on him, and pulled her grace further within her human host, buried it behind the pure soul of the teenage girl. "Is that better? I, quite honestly, can't tell." She nodded calmly. "Yes, we are. Shifter in Africa." If she heard the sour tone in his voice, she chose to ignore it. His description of his brother gave her pause, but only for the briefest of seconds. "He's human, of course it's going to take a bit of a toll." Honestly, she couldn't fix everything, the best she could do was make him take a shower and then put him into bed. Not that she thought that was fair. Here she was, flouncing around not even an hour after their adventure and he'd be sleeping it off until late into the next day. She did have feelings, of course, and she did feel bad. Her head snapped up and Ariel focused on Luke. "Of course I planned to meet you guys. There just hasn't been an opportune moment. I don't go out of my way to actively avoid you, Luke. I completely understand that you don't like me." It was kind of obvious, but she was trying to be somewhat polite. "But I bring him home alive and safe if somewhat tired." The angel stopped, brows furrowed in thought as she studied the younger twin. "Interesting." Shaking herself back out of her thoughts, she moved around the room, making sure Alec's instruments were safe inside their cases. "Look, I'm not going to apologize. Not out of a sense of spite, mind you. But simply because there isn't anything to apologize for." Closing the violin case, the angel let her fingers trace the lid almost in remembrance of something. "I won't be in your hair long tonight. I just want to make sure he'll be on his feet for your show. And, if not, I'll figure out a way to give him the extra boost of energy he needs. Teleportation can really take it out of a person." LOCATION: NYNY hotel in LV, Nevada MUSIC: Real Wild Child - Everlife OUTFIT:White button-up tank and blue jean shorts with tennis shoes. It dazzled a bit." More than a bit, but Luke was always trying to shrug off the physical side of things, even as he was trying more and more to accept if not embrace the metaphysical. "No, I don't suppose you do see anything you should apologize for. I haven't met an angel yet who understands why people get upset about the way they behave." He glanced at the closed bathroom door, moved over to check the sitting room for the keyboard. "Of course," it sounded sort of absent, but then he was bending over the back of the sofa so that might have just been a compressed diaphragm, "you're not the one who has to put him back together after your adventurings. You're not the one that will be rearranging his and your schedule for the next 24 hours to give him a chance to sleep. You're not the one who'll have to pull his attention back from African shifters to the show we're trying to put on. You're not the one who'll have to wrench his attention back to the real world and try to pin it there at least until the next time his angelic girlfriend breezes into town and takes him off for a grand adventure and then drops him back off again to go do all the far more important things that she has to do than pay attention to a human guy." There it was. Shoved down between the arm of the loveseat and the side table, Luke pulled it up and tucked it under his arm. "He's fun, isn't he? Something to fill the odd moments between doing Angel Things. And if he thinks you're incredible, amazing, way more important than anything else in his life? Well, that's only fitting, isn't it? After all, you're an archangel. And he's just a human kid in a band." "You presume too much, Luke. Just a human kid in a band? Wrong! All wrong! Everything is...is different. And I can't stay with him. You think I want to breeze in and out like this? You think I enjoy leaving him to totter onstage? I enjoy being with him, I do. It's like...Nevermind, you can't understand." With the bursting of her temper, her grace flared and it took all of her strength of will to bury it again, although she was certain she was still a little too bright. Taking the keyboard from him, she set it on the bed and caught his arm. With a mere focus, they were on a jagged but somwhat flat ice berg in the Arctic Ocean, with the force of her power she swept any nausea from him and kept him as warm as he'd been in the hotel. Miles out to sea, a lone polar bear struggled against the waves. "See that polar bear? She'll drown tonight. The ice berg we stand on used to be part of the giant chunk of ice at the top of your planet. This is what I deal with. I leave your brother safe with you and Norah so that I can try to keep your planet rotating on its axis. I'm not asking for your pity, Luke. Nor am I asking you to like me. You can dislike me all you want. But I am not hurting your brother." She stared at the polar bear long and hard before turning to him. "There's a pod of whales who've beached themselves on the coast of Australia and a hurricane brewing near the Philippines. Oh, and don't forget the meteor shower that'll come by tomorrow, one of those meteorites will make it through the atmosphere and blow a crater somewhere in Brazil. You seem to think that angels just sit around on our asses twiddling our thumbs. We don't. At least, we're not supposed to." She returned them both to his hotel room. "I can stay, if it'd make you feel better. I'll make sure Alec is fine on stage tonight, I'll keep everyone away from his room with a multitude of excuses tomorrow. Just tell me to stay, and I will." Cold and angry, Ariel watched Luke. LOCATION: NYNY hotel in LV, Nevada MUSIC: Real Wild Child - Everlife OUTFIT:White button-up tank and blue jean shorts with tennis shoes. "Yup. You sure are important. Wow, I feel incredibly chastened right now. You are far and away the single most impressive and important consciousness that I've ever had the pleasure of talking to in my whole entire life. How could I dare to question you? How could I think that maybe somebody as vast and crucial as you might squish my brother's heart like a bug without even noticing?" He shook his head slowly, clucking his tongue. "I am ashamed of myself. Truly. What right do I have to question you? A lowly worm like me, compared to a shining beacon of magnificence like you? How could I have the impudence?""Except?" He perked up. "Wait, I just remembered. Fuck you." A sharp nod. "He's my brother. My twin. I get to weigh and judge every single person he even talks to, much less dates. I get to not give a damn about your world-spanning impressiveness because me and Rah and our parents are the only four people in the world who are completely entitled to find you not one one-millionth as important as Alec." He picked up the keyboard again. "So no, don't stay. Norah and I will take care of him. Go save the world. I'll make sure he gets enough rest that he's ready for your next grand adventure. And if you ever get him hurt I'll steal an angel's sword and bury it right smack in your heart." And then it just disappeared. Her gaze softened and she sighed. "Siblings. I hate siblings. You people are so annoyingly....caring." She shrugged. "Well, fine. Whatever. I'm sticking around. I think there's a group of whale-whatevers driving over to that coast. And meteorites are easy enough to bat out of the atmosphere no matter where I am. You're right, I'm inconsequential. Always have been. Of course, if you think I'm an ant, that must make you an atom. Humans are so...small and just annoying." She didn't know why she hung around the damn things. They spent all of their time destroying their planet. "I'll keep Alec out of trouble. And alive. I'll keep you alive, too. Not out of a silly need to earn your approval or whatever. If I'm going to stick around, I might as well make myself useful. And I did promise Cas I'd take care of you guys. Besides, there's djinn lurking in the area and I've been meaning to seek them out. Alone." On top of that, the demonic activity recently had been through the roof. Another good excuse to stick around. Some part of her knew she was being stubborn and childish, but she simply didn't care. Besides, she wanted to get to know Alec. Not live with the boy. Hell, she didn't need sleep. So, she'd take care of things while he slept, keep him safe. She'd been running from him and perhaps that was what was contributing to her stubborn decision to change her mind. The planet, she decided, could revolve without her for a little while. Most of the unusual activity from the apocalypse had died down. She felt the polar bear's strength dwindle and she blocked it out. There was nothing she could do. She could rant about protecting the planet all she wanted when, in reality, she had to let nature take it's course. "Name's Arianna as long as I'm sticking around. I'd really prefer that my true name didn't get spread out to the whole world." She was doing it again. Getting involved in the lives of some very important people. It had been a good hundred years or more since the last time she'd meddled. The humans needed to get stirred up a bit. And so, within the span of a few minutes, Ariel went from righteous defender of the planet to meddler of the humans. And what he said next didn't soften it any. "Don't stay. Christ, he'll never get anything done if you're always here shining at him. Do you not even get what you are to him? How he sees you?" Luke shook his head, there was a headache rising from the stress of the argument but let's be frank here, he always had a headache rising and he was pretty good at ignoring them. "Go away. Go save polar bears and prevent typhoons and keep the world spinning on its axis. Go be important and leave him time to recover between adventures." He sat down on the foot of the bed and glared at her under the brim of his hat, but despite the scowl there was real pleading in his voice as he said more quietly, "He's just human. Do you actually have any concept of how fragile a person is? You said yourself we're like ants to you. He'll break, and it won't be you that puts him back together. If he even can be put together again." "Go away." And now he was practically begging. "Pop in once every five days or week or whenever you think about him. Take him off on adventures, but then give him back to us so that we can keep him alive and sane and functional. If you're here 24/7, he'll burn out in under a month. Trying to keep up with you, trying to be 'on' as much as you need to stay interested. Please. If you care about him at all, on any level, don't stay here and ruin him."
